Second Class Of Innovation Tournament

On 15th May was our second class of innovation tournament. Firstly, Sir Mani Wangdi explained us the criteria to win the innovation tournament. The criteria are:

  • Blog Quality= sir will grade us based on  how good our blogs are, according to our creativity and originality.
  •  Solution proposal= Sir said that only the selected group will work on it based on what they have written in their        forms when participating.
  • App Usage= It depends on the number of user and entries in our app, which is in a mobile application known as          epicollect5. The more the users, the more the entries.
  • Team Collaboration= Sir said that we need to work in team, everyone should support each  other, we should communicate  and share our ideas, everyone should do their part of work ,  if a member is not   collaborating,          then sir would  note down and deduct our  precious marks.
  • Eppicollect5 Design= Sir will grade us according to the designs and features added in our app, which should be   very easy to use by the users  and should be friendliness.
  • Documentary Video Production: This is the main thing we learned today, our sir Passang demonstrated on how to make a pro video.
To make our documentary video excellent, we need to follow the ten steps .Firstly, he showed us the video of the 10 steps and demonstrated on it.

The ten steps are;

  1.  Push forward ; We should lock our elbows to avoid shaking in our video as it will not look good if the video have shacked, we have to bend our knees and have to  move the camera slowly forward so the video would look amazing as it wont stay in same place.
  2. The Crane Shot; we have to shot from down to up or  from ground to the sky. It will look like block blaster movie if played in television.
  3. Fly through: We need to find a gap, where our phone can went through and have to push our cameras slowly through the gaps and backup smoothly.
  4. Slider/Dolly: We need to simply find something in the foreground and have to move our camera horizontally either on left or right.
  5. The Fake Drone Shot: We don't need a real drone in this shot. We can stick or wrap our mobile on a bamboo shoot and walk towards the cliff edge doing a push forward but need to stretch the hands or bamboo on the cliff edge. This type of shot will give you visually appealing footage.
  6. The push forward/tilt: We need to bend the knees, move few steps forward and tilt the camera up slowly or just push the camera forward but tilt the camera up.
  7. The fly by: We need to move our camera very closely while passing from something on the foreground.
  8. The Slider/Pan: Foreground is crucial with this one but when done correctly, It will make much more interesting shots. We need to move the camera up horizontally, adding a slight plan to create combination of camera movement.
  9. The pull back: We should frame our shot and have to walk backward. A friend should guide you from the behind, so the person filming is only focused on making the video.
  10. The Crane reveal: We need to combine push forward and the Crane Shot, also using the foreground to reveal focal  point
Every time same footage will not look good so we need some transition to make it interesting.

We take several pictures, but only few of them will be good so we need to try again and again to make the footage or our documentary video good.

When we make videos, we have to focus on the main subject. If you are filming two subjects that are in opposite direction of each other, we should not change the subjects immediately, the second subject will not come on focus so we need to lock the video before changing the subject to make the subject to be on focus.

After this, Sir introduced a camera grid, "rule of third". When using camera grid we should keep the subject on ⅓/one third to make the video visually appealing.  Sometimes we have to break the rule but 99% is good to follow the rule. This rule also applies to photography as well, as they are similar.
